ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
We at Petrokemija d.d.
started implementing environmental management system in the early seventies and
have been improving and upgrading it ever since. The company staff commitment
resulted in successful implementation of the Environmental Management System in
line with the ISO 14001 international standard. The System was originally
certified by Lloyd's Register in 2004 and re-certificated in 2006. The
activities involved in the environment protection are done according to a
documented system, from the Board down to every single employee working for or
on behalf of Petrokemija and with the help of supporting technical services.
The care for environment
has been integrated into the business policy of Petrokemija. Continuous
improvement of the Environment Management System is carried out in line with
the adopted programs in order to prevent and reduce the pollution of the
environment and meet the legal requirements.
With the aim of reducing
unfavorable impact on environment, we take care of our product in their whole
life cycle including the choice of good quality raw materials, improvement of
production processes, storaging, packing and distribution as well as giving
technical assistance in after-sales services for proper use of our products. We
monitor all our production processes and estimate their impact and rising
trends as compared to the highly set standards. We monitor the air quality by
measuring concentration of seven pollutants at six measuring stations in Town
Kutina. A special attention is given to the quality of waste waters and production
waste which is selectively collected, parts used if possible and / or disposed
of in a prescribed manner. In order to be as efficient as possible in the
environment protection system, we have established cooperation with technical
and research institutes. As a result of environmental protection measures in
Petrokemija, there is a continuous rising trend of waste water and air quality
in the residential area. Regular reports on Petrokemija operations' impact on
environment are prepared for state authorities and the public. By continuous
upgrading of environmental protection we are trying to meet the requirements of
international standards for environmental management.
